READY TO ADOPT?

ADOPTION APPLICATION

It's exciting and fun to bring home a new pet and extremely rewarding when it is a rescue! It can also be time-consuming as you help your new family member adjust to its new life. We want you to be successful in your search for a pet. Some adjust easily and quickly, while others need extra time, training and encouragement. The loving bond that results from rescuing a pet is truly amazing! We often ponder the question, "Who rescued who?"

BEFORE ADOPTION

Things to Consider
Your choice in adopting a pet is a stepping stone towards a no-kill city. Adopting is a very rewarding experience. Before taking responsibility for any living creature, please consider the following:
  • Do you have plenty of space?
  • Are you financially stable?
  • Do you or anyone in your family suffer from pet allergies?
  • Do you have time to care for them?
  • Do your current pets get along with other animals?
Requirements
  • Adopter must be at least 18 years of age with valid identification.
  • Adopter must allow a LAPS representative to make an adoption follow up.
  • Spaying/neutering of dogs and cats adopted through any organization is a state law and will be enforced.
  • If you are unable to keep or provide proper care for your pet, you must contact LAPS.
  • Adoption fees are nonrefundable. LAPS is a no-kill, non-profit organization. All funds go to help rescue more animals.
  • No animal will be adopted as a gift for another person.
  • When adopting from LAPS, an adoption application must be signed.

Interested in Cats?

Due to the remodeling of the "Cat Castle" in early 2014, LAPS did not take in cats for some time. Since early 2016, we have partnered with  Best Friends For Life.
Picture
Best Friends For Life is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill, foster-based organization that focuses only on cats. All cats are vetted and placed in various satellite locations like their "Cat Village" adoption center at LAPS, and both Petco locations. To view their adoption available cats, visit their website.
